Search sandbox
The search sandbox (namespace → Search sandbox, on paid plans) runs
search_instructions the way an agent would, without counting as an agent
call.
- Type a plan — what the agent is about to do: “writing a refund email to an enterprise customer”. You get the sections it would receive, best first, with the signal that found each (its summary, a passage’s meaning, or its exact words), the score and the size.
- Compare up to three phrasings side by side, to see which wording finds the right section — useful when writing the instruction in an agent’s system prompt that tells it how to search.
- What the agent receives shows the exact text
search_instructionsreturns for each plan, byte for byte. - What
get_tocreturns shows the map the agent reads first.
When a search finds the wrong section, the fix is usually in the document: a clearer heading, a section that mixes two topics split in two, or the exact identifier the agent will use written into the text. See Writing prompts for agents.
